What is Email Mediation?

We started Email Mediation because we have a passion for helping people resolve their disputes. Email Mediation is a process that allows a third party neutral mediator to act as an intermediary between two or more parties to help them reach a resolution to their dispute. The parties communicate through their mediator and negotiate back and forth. Mediators have training to help facilitate this communication. Email Mediation is unique in that most of the communication is done via email, with some communication done via phone or videoconferencing. There are several benefits to this method. First, the parties don’t need to meet face-to-face if they don’t like each other. Second, the parties don’t need to find a time and place to mediate. And third, the parties don’t need to live by each other or travel in order to mediate.

We wanted to make the process as simple as possible. If you have a dispute that you want to resolve, fill out the contact form on our website. We’ll then send you our standard mediation agreement, which you’ll need to sign and return to us. We’ll also reach out to the other party to your dispute and invite them to participate in the mediation. Once both parties sign the agreement, we will send you payment instructions. The charge will be a non-refundable flat fee of $500 per party. The mediation will then commence and will continue until either (1) the parties reach an agreement; (2) one party communicates that he or she no longer wishes to participate in mediation; (3) one party refuses to communicate further with the mediator; or (4) the mediator and the parties agree that further mediation efforts would be useless.

You are welcome to have your lawyer participate, in which case the mediator will communicate with your lawyer. However, you don’t have to have a lawyer to mediate, and Email Mediation is specifically designed to work even if the parties don’t have lawyers.

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact us. We would love to see if Email Mediation can help you.
